Welcome to brenPhotography’s Clickin with Brenda blog: Local Business Spotlight.  This feature highlights local businesses. Tell me a little about your business:  I am a John Maxwell trained leadership coach, trainer, and mastermind leader.

How & when did you get started?  I was looking for something that captured my passion after I got bought out from my business in January, 2014.  I found John Maxwell in late September that same year and I love learning how to add value to people and then practice what I’ve learned!

What is your business best known for?  Helping others achieve their dreams.

What is something interesting about your business that your customers might not know?  I specialize in Mastermind groups.  That is a gathering of like-minded people who focus on one topic or book to gain valuable knowledge and insights.

Advice I wish I had 5 years ago:  READ JOHN MAXWELL’s BOOKS!

On my day off I love to work on my business

I can’t start my day until I feed the dogs!

You’ll never see me without sadly, my phone

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?  This is more than enough for me now!

What is the one thing you wish you knew how to do?  Home repairs

What is the first job you ever had?  Cleaning houses

Why did you need a headshot?  Starting my new business

How did you feel about your Business Portrait experience with brenPhotography?  I love my photo and had a great time while we were working together!

Today, meet licensed psychologist Dr. Christine Marston, who specializes in eating disorders: treating anorexia, bulimia, binging and emotional eating in both adolescence and adulthood. We made Personal Branding photos as well as images of her office space that she is using on her website, and for professional and social media updates.

Read on to find out more about her and visit her website HERE.

Business name:  Dr. Christine Marston, Licensed Psychologist

Address:  Buckingham Green Shops, 4920 York Road, Buckingham PA

Tell me a little about your business: I’m a psychologist who offers therapy services to help people with eating disorders, depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions and personal growth of all kinds.

How & when did you get started? Psychology was the subject in school that always held my interest.  After no less than 9 years of college and graduate school, I began doing therapy.  I’ve been a therapist in many different settings for almost 20 years now.

What is your business best known for? I’m best known in the community for my specialty in treating eating disorders. Given the complexities of eating issues, people need an expert in that area to support their recovery.   In addition, I have many clients who see me for therapy to help them with anxiety, depressive symptoms, relationship issues or changes in their career.

What is something interesting about your business that your clients might not know? So many girls and women have a complicated and difficult relationship with food and their bodies.  I’d love to help more people develop a healthier relationship with eating, exercising and encourage them to befriend their bodies.  I believe that therapy (not diets, cleanses, weight loss programs or harsh exercising) can really help with that.

Advice I wish I had 5 years ago: For me, 5 years ago was a time of transition involving major life changes.  Although I had my profession, I was starting over in many areas of my life.  I needed to be told that I could count on myself to be OK.  Better than OK!

On my day off I love toSleep in, jog with my German Shepherd Frank, watch my kids play their sports, catch some rays if possible and have a nice dinner out.

I can’t start my day until: Coffee and perusing through texts, emails and social media.

You’ll never see me without My clients and colleagues will mention that I always wearing high heels to work.  I’m not sure how that became a given…I think I need some cute flats!

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? I’m so satisfied with being a psychologist and the way I spend my day that I rarely consider doing anything else.  That said, I wouldn’t mind living on a big ranch, adopting a bunch of animals and taking care of them all day!

What is the one thing you wish you knew how to do? I keep thinking that I’ll learn how to play tennis someday…

What is the first job you ever had? Throughout college and graduate school, I was a fitness instructor. It was a great way to develop a positive relationship with exercise, meet new people and make a little money.

Why did you need a headshot? Just this year, I left a group practice to start my own private practice.  Along with this, I needed to do my own marketing and wanted some great photos to use in doing so.

How did you feel about your Business Portrait experience with brenPhotography? Having my pictures taken by Brenda was a pleasure.  She came to my office and was great at understanding what I was looking for in my photos.  She helped me to relax and feel comfortable.  Not to mention, her slogan, “shine from the inside” really resonates with the work I do with teens and women.

Welcome to brenPhotography’s Clickin with Brenda blog: Local Business Spotlight.  This feature highlights local businesses. Here you can learn not only about their services, as well as the personalities behind them.  I love meeting these business owners and learning more about them while photographing them for updated headshots, family, or glamour portraits.

Today, Joanne Beattie who represents My Doterra Essential Oils is the focus. Essential oils are the concentrated aromatic properties of plants that help our bodies to heal themselves mentally, physically and spiritually. Find out a little about Joanne and her business here:

Business name: I’m a wellness advocate with doTERRA Essential Oils

Phone number: 215-485-0436

Web: http://www.mydoterra.com/joannelbeattie

Tell me a little about your business: Essential oils are the concentrated aromatic properties of plants that help our bodies to heal themselves mentally, physically and spiritually.

How & when did you get started? I started using essential oils a little over a year ago to help with depression. They have helped me immensely and I want to help other people experience better spiritual, mental and physical health.

What is your business best known for? Essential oils provide a proactive and holistic approach to health care; treating the whole person, body, mind and spirit.

What is something interesting about your business that your customers might not know? Essential oils don’t actually heal us; they support the health of our cells and our immune system, helping us fight and ward off colds and flu, help with nausea and constipation, headaches, pain and inflammation and more. Also the olfactory nerve is directly linked to the limbic system, our emotion and mood center, so they can alter our mood and energy.

Advice I wish I had 5 years ago: Use essential oils!

On my day off I love to go for walks in nature, read and spend time with friends.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? I have joined the John Maxwell Team and am working on becoming a John Maxwell Coach.

What is the one thing you wish you knew how to do? I wish I were a better cook.

What is the first job you ever had? Selling shoes.

Why did you need a headshot? To post on my website and social media.

How did you feel about your Business Portrait experience with brenPhotography? Awesome! Brenda and Annie made me feel comfortable and relaxed, definitely a wonderful experience and the finished product turned out beautifully! Thank you!

Today, Laura Templeton of Stream is the focus. Laura needed an updated Business Portrait for her expanding career and like most had found a reason to put it off. One thing that Laura wished that she had learned was Sign Language, something that I have wanted to learn also. To me, the ability to communicate with everyone is so important.

Here are Laura's new headshots. Learn more about her and visit her website HERE:

How & when did you get started? My neighbor, owner of Hopewell Tennis Club, introduced me to Stream on the trunk of his car.

What is something interesting about your business that your customers might not know? We have a referral program that can save you 25, 50, even 100% on the generation portion of your energy bill for both electricity and natural gas.

Advice I wish I had 5 years ago: Don’t waste time learning before you talk to people, jump in and if you don’t know the answer call someone who does.

On my day off I love to: Spend time with my family

I can’t start my day until: Read my Bible

You’ll never see me without: My phone (according to my kids, and they are the reason I never leave home without it and if I do I turn around.)

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Wedding planner!

What is the one thing you wish you knew how to do? Sign language

What is the first job you ever had? Babysitting

Why did you need a headshot? I wanted a professional photo instead of a selfie for my social media and my bio. I recently began writing for PWBN About Her Magazine and realized my photo, not only being a few years old is also one from a photo someone took of me with their phone.

How did you feel about your Business Portrait experience with brenPhotography? AMAZING!! Brenda and her stylist, Annie made me feel totally at ease and comfortable. I loved having a stylist on hand to add just to make me feel like I was ready for pictures and Brenda explained exactly  what she needed me to do and how it would enhance my photo. She helped me select my photos from the many great shots she took and did an amazing job with the finished photos. I love them!! Can’t wait to do it again!! I think this should be a once a year event!
